Things couldn't be better in our part of the world known as Laguna
Beach. There is so much to be enjoyed and experienced it's hard to
catch my breath sometimes. It's not a bad problem to have.
Music to the ears
Sunday, at the concert in the park, Caravana had the crowd hopping
with its reggae infused rock, Afro-Latin groove combo sound. The high
energy was a crowd-pleaser -- especially the sounds of the band's
incredible conga player Ron Powell.
This week there's a big "Yee Haw" to be had with Riders of the
Purple Sage performing American and western-style country and
western. They are known for getting the giddy up going with their
trademark harmonies and signature playing style. So if country and
western is your thing, you should mosey to the Music in the Park's
concert from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bluebird Park.
The park is on Cress Street between Temple Terrace and Bluebird
Canyon Drive. As always, the concert is free. So bring your friends,
family, blanket, picnic basket and beverages and enjoy the concert.
The graduates
The Laguna College of Art & Design juried alumni show will feature
the best of the best of the talented artists who have attended the
college. Work from illustrators, painters, animators, sculptors and
designers will be showcased in this annual event, which kicks off the
coming school year.
The exhibit is from Aug. 19 to September with an artist reception
from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday Aug. 29 at the school's Ettinger
Gallery. The reception will be a great place to learn of the journey
of the former students since their graduation into the real world.

Surf, surf and more
art at the museum
One of the great things about the Surf Culture exhibit is that it
is so intensive. You should take several trips to the museum to truly
experience it all.
Another cool thing is there are also a lot of other events
happening through Oct. 6. So, grab your calendar and look forward to
the weekly fun this event provides.
At 5 p.m. on Sunday the museum's lecture series will feature a
look at the film "San Diego Surf." The lecture includes filmmaker and
journalist Aaron Sloan, photographer Bob Smith, and surfboard
designer and inventor Carl Ekstrom.
On Aug. 18 the lecture series is an exciting family event
featuring surfing greats telling some of their stories about some of
