Laguna lands four on all-league team

Four members of the Laguna Beach High School baseball team have

been named to the 2004 All-Pacific Coast League team, Breakers Coach

Tom Faris said.

Senior Conley Sampson, a catcher/pitcher/utility player, was the

lone Breaker to be named to the first team.

Senior Alex Wilson, a pitcher/infielder, was a second-team

selection and seniors Grant Harrell, a pitcher/infielder, and Jake

Wheeler, an outfielder, were given honorable mentions.

"I think that where we finished in league, it's a positive thing

for our program to have four players named all-league," Faris said.

"These four players did a terrific job for us throughout the season."

Laguna finished Pacific Coast League play in fifth place with a

3-12 record.

Undefeated league champion Corona del Mar cleaned up in the

all-league selections.

The Sea Kings also went on to win the CIF-Southern Section

Division IV championship on June 5 at Dodger Stadium.

Sampson, Wilson, Harrell and Wheeler all played for the Pacific

Coast League in last Saturday's South County Showcase of Players

baseball games at Windrow Park in Irvine.
