in a Laguna intersection.
At about 9:19 p.m. Monday, Donn Gusemano, 49, of Laguna Beach, was
crossing South Coast Highway near Legion Street when she was hit by a
driver heading north on the highway, Sgt. Jason Kravetz said. Police
concluded Gusemano was at fault because she did not use a crosswalk.
The driver, Tandida Shain, 27, of Tustin, told police she heard a
thump and saw Gusemano down on the pavement in her side mirror,
Kravetz said. She immediately stopped to help Gusemano as two other

came to Gusemano's aid.
Gusemano was taken to Mission Hospital for treatment of a broken
pelvis, bleeding behind a kidney and abrasions on her left side,
Kravetz said. She told police she could not remember being hit.
