Teen, young man arrested after chase
Two Laguna residents were arrested on Saturday after a teenager
reportedly led police on two chases and the other allegedly
interfered with the arrest.
Officers used a taser to subdue the second person, police said.
The first chase started at about 8:20 p.m. Saturday when an
officer on patrol in the 200 block of Cliff Drive encountered a
16-year-old who smelled of alcohol, Sgt. Darin Lenyi said. The boy
ran and managed to escape the officer, but a bag of methamphetamine
that the boy allegedly threw away during the chase was found by
Police put out a broadcast to be on the lookout for the boy, and
about one hour after the first chase, another officer found the teen,
police said. The boy ran again, but the officer caught him at a house
in the 200 block of Cypress Drive. He was arrested there at 9:38 p.m.
"That officer was faster than the first officer," Lenyi said.
About three more police had come to the house to make the arrest,
and while police were still in the process of arresting the boy, Jeff
Allen Bradshaw, 21, allegedly tried to block the officer trying to
catch the boy, Lenyi said. Police told Bradshaw to sit down, but he
reportedly refused, and when police asked for his name, he reportedly
gave multiple fake names to officers.
Bradshaw tried to sneak out of the room but was grabbed by an
officer on his way out, Lenyi said. Bradshaw reportedly tried to push
the officer away before police used a taser to stop him. Bradshaw was
then arrested. He was not taken to a hospital.
Bradshaw was booked on suspicion of giving a false name to police,
and the boy was booked on two counts of obstructing a police officer
and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
