The two meet for the first time this season today at Dugger
Gymnasium at 5:30 p.m.
The Division II poll again is topped by Valencia of Valencia,
which has held down the top spot the entire season. Santa Barbara
again comes in at number two.
Tesoro is the third Pacific Coast League team ranked among the Top
10, coming in at number five. Three schools are tied for sixth in the
poll, and three others tied for the seventh slot.
The Division II rankings: 1. Valencia/Valencia; 2. Santa Barbara;
3. Corona del Mar; 4. Laguna Beach; 5. Tesoro; 6T. San Marcos, Dos
Pueblos, Ventura; 7T. Saugus, Canyon/Canyon Country, Arcadia. Others
receiving votes: Northwood, San Luis Obispo, Claremont, Crescenta
Valley, Santa Ynez.
Tennis tournament taking registration
The 48th Annual City of Laguna Beach Tennis Tournament will be
held May 14-15 and again on the weekend of May 21-22.
The tournament is open to players in divisions Open through 3.5,
and competition will take place in singles, doubles and mixed.
Tournament entry deadline is set for May 4 and can be taken at
Laguna Beach Community Services, located at 515 Forest Ave., or by
e-mail at allcourttennis@hotmail.com.
Junior Challenger Series played May 22
The next Laguna Beach Junior Challenger Series round robin
tournament will be played Sunday, May 22, at Alta Laguna Park.
The tournament, which begins at 2:30 p.m., is open to players ages
10 through 14 at a cost of $25 per player.
To register, players can contact Laguna Beach Community Services,
located at 515 Forest Ave.
Deadline to register for the tournament is 4 p.m., May 18.
