"An Italian Decade" will feature original oils on linen depicting Venice, Sicily, the Amalfi coast and the Tuscan countryside, as well as still-lifes from the artist's home near Florence.

Peace day, autumnal equinox celebrated

This year's International Day of Peace will be celebrated with a one-night showing of "One: The Movie" on Thursday, Sept. 21, at South Coast Cinemas, followed by an open house at Endangered Planet Gallery featuring local artists on Sept. 23, the fall equinox.

"One: The Movie" shown at 7:15 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. on Sept. 21.

The film is a documentary featuring 15 of the world's writers and philosophers, from Deepak Chopra to Father Thomas Keating, who all answer the same 20 questions about science, religion, war and other topics.


Tickets are $10 each and are available at the cinema box office, located at S. Coast Highway and Broadway, and two galleries: Endangered Planet Gallery, 384 Forest Ave. #13, and Marion Meyer Contemporary Art, 354 North Coast Highway.

The equinox celebration will begin at 6 p.m., Sept. 23, at Endangered Planet, and will feature entertainment by Evren Ozan, a 12-year-old flute prodigy and composer, and Laguna Beach artist Terrell, who will perform songs and poetry. Terrell's solo art show, "Tribal Neo-Pop Art," is on display at the gallery through Sept. 30.

Deadline for arts directory approaches

The city is currently accepting information for the seventh edition of the City of Laguna Beach Art Directory, an annual listing of artists residing, working or exhibiting in the city, arts organizations and galleries in the city. Directories will be available in Jan. 2007.
