Many organizations place floral offerings on the Heisler Park Memorial Monument prior to the ceremony. The organizers ask that the organization's name is attached to the arrangements. It is suggested that those having flowers delivered try to get them in place before the 11 a.m. start time. If you intend to participate in this part of the program, call Diane Connell at (949) 494-2065.

Realtors to host Taste for Charity Thursday

The Laguna Board of Realtors and Affiliates are hosting "A Taste for Charity," the major fundraiser of the board.

Each year different local non-profit organizations are selected to receive proceeds from the event. This year, 17 organizations will be beneficiaries.

The fundraiser will be held on at Tivoli Too, 777 Laguna Canyon Road.

The event includes a series of food stalls with appetizers provided by 10 local restaurants, together with refreshments from a sponsoring vineyard and a selection of soft drinks and water.

Tickets sold for the event include six tastes of food and/or drinks. A silent auction of original and selective works of art donated by many local artists is also available, and raffles and live auction gifts also raise significant funds.

Last year more than 500 people attended the event, which raised over $43,000 for the organizations.

The group also unanimously endorsed two policies:

  • To oppose the extension of the Foothill Toll Road through San Clemente State Park and support efforts in the California legislature to prohibit roads through state parks

This was the last conservancy dinner meeting until after the summer. Meetings will resume on September 10 due to Labor Day.
