Major street project winds down
All of the major paving on the city's street resurfacing project — the biggest in Laguna Beach history — has been completed and no additional street closures are anticipated except for one day on Upland Road, City Manager Ken Frank announced May 18.
The contractor is currently restriping the pavement and paving the roadway shoulders. All work is expected to be completed before June 15, Frank said.
Broadway depot nearly finished
The Broadway bus depot project is 80% complete and will be completed by the end of the month, Frank said.
The restricted work hours and confined working area has kept the progress to a slow pace, but has prevented any traffic impacts from occurring on Broadway.
Sewer tanks to be replaced
The city's two largest sewer pumping facilities will be getting surge tank replacements, Frank said. The smallest of the stainless steel replacement tanks weighs 6,500 pounds. Large cranes will be seen working at the Laguna and Bluebird life stations in the next two weeks as the project is under way.
Traffic will be temporarily diverted on Glenneyre and Calliope Streets during the day when the equipment is exchanged at the Bluebird facility.
