Motorcyclist from Mission Viejo dies in solo collision

A 34-year-old Mission Viejo man died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday when his motorcycle struck a guardrail on Pacific Coast Highway south of Reef Point in Crystal Cove, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Mario Frassetto was pronounced dead at the scene. He was traveling southbound when his motorcycle apparently hit the guardrail, bounced off of it, then continued out of control in a southerly direction, ejecting Frassetto off the cycle. He struck the guardrail and died of his injuries. The incident is under investigation by the Highway Patrol.


Vandals hit South Coast Highway businesses

At least 10 businesses on South Coast Highway were hit with vandalism Monday and Tuesday, according to Laguna Beach police records.

Eight of the businesses reported graffiti etched into their windows. Several businesses at the Old Pottery Place were hit, and other businesses on the 1200 block of South Coast Highway also reported damage at 5:20 p.m. Monday. In addition, a shop on the 200 block of Laguna Avenue reported its door marked with paint at 7:09 a.m. Tuesday, and a gallery in the 1200 block reported vandalism at 11:51 a.m. Tuesday.

Man accused of DUI, endangering boys

A Laguna Beach man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment at 1:17 p.m. June 26 in the 700 block of South Coast Highway, Kravetz said.

Mark Monacell, 41, reportedly pulled into Ralphs supermarket and tried to purchase alcohol, but was refused because he was too intoxicated. Store employees watched as he left the store and got into a convertible Porsche, then drove off with two young boys in the back seat. Laguna Beach police pulled him over with a 10-year-old and 11-year-old in the car, one of whom was his son.

Woman held after crashing into two parked cars

Amber Lee Samuelson, 25, was arrested on suspicion of DUI after striking two parked cars with her Audi at 8:24 p.m. June 26 in the 400 block of Aster Street, Kravetz said.

Neighbors heard the crash and saw the suspect trying to back out of the vehicles. Fearing she would flee, one neighbor put her car in park and removed the keys, then called police.

Water balloon lobs lead to arrest of woman, 24

Hijinks with water balloons led to the arrest of Shay Natil Duguay, 24, of Laguna Beach on suspicion of DUI and false impersonation at 1:45 a.m. June 27 in Three Arch Bay.
