As the more than 1500 guest began arriving, Laguna mayor Jane Egly and Blake initiated the festivities with a ribbon cutting. The spacious galleries were soon filled to capacity.
Designed by Laguna Beach architect Anders Lasater, the galleries were created to accommodate large works of art and to also allow viewers enough room to take in their full impact. The interior’s clean lines evidence Lasater’s and Blake's efforts to keep the art as the primary focus of the space.
Gwaltney’s newest series of figurative paintings rendered in a lively yet subtle palette complemented both the gallery and the guests’ festive mood.
The Chris Gwaltney exhibition will be open until November 15. The artist will be present for the First Thursday Artwalk event on November 6, from 6 to 9 pm.
