Seventh grade students will be attending Thurston Middle School's first Renaissance Day, Friday, June 12th. This fun and educationalopportunity is made possible with a grant by School Power, and chaired by Language Arts teacher, Amy Cochren.
Students' classes will be divided into eight guilds: shoemakers, bakers, knights, kings, jousters, jokers, blacksmiths, and serfs. Renaissance presentations will include sport, commedia del arte, arms and armor, crimes and punishment, clothing, dance, and falconry.
Students and teachers are encouraged to dress in period costume on Renaissance Day. After an informative presentation by Masquerade Village, students were offered the optional opportunity to rent high-quality, theatre costumes to wear on Friday.
