Uncle to make ride in support of Make A Wish
Dave Rusk, a Laguna Beach County Water District employee for 22 years, adopted his nephew Dylan when his father died.
Dylan, 9, has leukemia, the same disease that killed his father, Rusk’s brother, almost a year ago.
The youngster wanted to be an Orange County Sheriff for a day and Make a Wish Foundation made it happen.
To repay the foundation, Rusk will ride a motorcycle from Dana Point to Alaska starting July 4 to raise funds for the Make a Wish Foundation.
“The ride will be challenging, but nothing compared to the challenges faced by these kids,” Rusk said at the June 16 City Council meeting.
Mayor Kelly Boyd called Rusk to the podium at the meeting to tell his story.
Fliers are posted at the Marine Room, which Boyd owns, Laguna Auto Supply, Mandarin King restaurant and other locations.

Holiday won’t affect business trash service
Waste Management’s curbside residential trash and recycling pick-up schedule will operate on a normal schedule July 3 and will not operate July 4, in observance of Independence Day.
Business commercial trash and recycling services will not be affected by the holiday — these services will remain on the regular Monday through Saturday schedule for the same week.
