Work starts on Third Street retaining wall
Replacement of the wood retaining wall on the downhill side of the Third Street hill began this week and will continue to the end of November, City Manager Ken Frank stated in his Oct. 2 Update to city staff.
During the project, the downhill lane of Third Street will be closed from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on weekdays.
Parking revenues rose last summer
Summer visitors to Laguna Beach put more money in city parking meters this year, Frank stated in his update.
Parking revenue for fiscal year 2008-09 was slightly higher than the revenue received in the previous year, he reported.
The increase is primarily due to the fact that parking rates on Cliff Drive were raised when credit card meters were installed.
“The good news is that July and August of this past summer were more than 10% higher than the previous summer. While that is good news, it could be a little misleading. In any case, people are still coming to Laguna Beach,” Frank stated.
