Prayer as medicine is topic
Scott Preller, a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science healing from Andover, Mass., will present a talk titled, “The Medicine of Christian Science” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Christian Church, 635 High Drive.
“Medicine should be defined by whatever makes life whole, by whatever restores soundness and heals,” Preller said. “Christian Science has been demonstrating spiritual medicine and healing for over a century.”
Preller is a Bible scholar and member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.
The Preller family has been actively practicing in Christian Science for five generations.
During World War II in Germany, his father and grandfather were imprisoned by the Nazis for being Christian Scientists.
Preller served as a U.S. Air Force chaplain. He has been a staff editor for Christian Science magazines, and his articles have also appeared in local newspapers and the Oxford Companion to the Bible.
Preller earned a master’s of divinity degree in Biblical studies at Boston University.
