Salon marks 25th anniversary

International Hair Salon at Hotel Laguna will celebrate its 25th anniversary Tuesday. Hotel owner Claes Andersen is hosting a party there from 6 to 8 p.m.

Stylist and business owner Noreen Goodman started her business at the age of 24, and said she is excited and proud to achieve this milestone.

Goodman grew up in a small business, working in her mother's Laguna Beach bagel shop, "Bagel Heaven," (now Thai Brothers). She was offered a job at then-International Hair Cutters and after a few years bought the salon.

Goodman says she has always been creative and interested in art.

"I have a passion for making people feel beautiful from the inside out," she said. "I like to inspire people — it changes their lives.

"I love my location in Hotel Laguna. I've made many friends from around the world. Some come back to visit Laguna — just to have their hair done."

The boutique salon offers complete makeovers for women and men by Vidal Sassoon and Toni Guy-trained stylists. Appointments will soon be available seven days a week. One Monday a month, she gives back to the community by doing a makeover for abused women and children.

The salon is located at 431 S. Coast Hwy., Laguna Beach, in Hotel Laguna. For more information, call (949) 494-6655.

Nutrition Stop opens on Beach Street

Nutrition Stop of Laguna Beach has opened at 190 Beach St. The shop aims to provide the latest in nutrition and supplements. Store owners Ernie and Lara Mitchell work with store manager Matt Vega to provide personal service and nutritional advice.

The Mitchells have been in the nutrition business since 2002 after experiencing health and lifestyle changes by paying attention to their nutrition.

Vega has a degree in cellular biology from UCLA and has worked in the nutrition industry for four years.

Nutrition Stop carries all major brands of vitamins and minerals as well as an extensive line of sports nutrition and weight-loss products.

"We specialize in unique and specialty items," Vega said. "No longer will Laguna residents need to leave the downtown area to get nutritional products at discount pricing."

During the grand opening, the shop is offering a free protein drink with shaker and free consultation.
