The UPS Store from Laguna Beach Little League lost to the Aliso Viejo Angels, 3-1, June 11 in the second round of the Little League District 55 Tournament of Champions Minor Division tournament at Riddle Field in Laguna Beach.

The TOC places all the top teams in District 55 Little League (Newport, Central Irvine, Rancho Niguel, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, Saddleback, and Laguna Beach) in a single-elimination tournament.

The pitchers from both teams took early control of the game.

Jack Wills took the mound for UPS and pitched a wonderful game. Through the first three innings, Wills faced one batter over the minimum, and struck out five. A pair of Angels pitchers didn't allow a run and struck out six in the first three innings.

The Angels used three hits with nobody out in the top of the fourth to go in front, 3-0. Wills was able got the last two batters in the inning to ground out. With one out in the bottom-half of the inning, Connor Coscino, Wills and Tyler Jackson drew walks. Kegan Babick hit a slow roller up the middle but Coscino was tagged out at the plate trying to score. A few pitches later, Wills stole home to make the score 3-1.

UPS threatened again in the bottom of the fifth when Cameron Garcia and Justin Holm walked but the next two batters struck out. Wesley Witteman also walked to load the bases but another strikeout put an end to UPS' final threat of the game.

Congratulations to UPS on a fantastic season.
