Scott/Youngs finish second in Hermosa
Former Laguna Beach High athlete Rachel Scott and playing partner Elaine Youngs (El Toro High) finished second Sunday at the Assn. of Volleyball Professionals NIVEA Tour Hermosa Beach Open, presented by Bud Light Lime.
Scott — formerly Wacholder — and Youngs, the No. 3 seed in the women's tournament, fell, 21-17, 21-14, to the top-seeded team of Jennifer Kessy (Dana Hills High) and April Ross (Newport Harbor High).
It was the fourth straight tournament title for Kessy and Ross on the current AVP tour. Scott and Youngs also fell to Kessy and Ross in the previous women's final June 27 at the Belmar Open in New Jersey. The AVP NIVEA tour stays in the southland with the Long Beach Open, which begins today and runs through Sunday.
