According to Raun, this election is particularly challenging for the voters. A casual perusal of the initiative won't do the trick because some propositions conflict with others. "If [Propositions] 20 and 27 both pass, the one with the most 'yes' votes prevails," Raun stated.
"If 26 and 19, the Marijuana Initiative, both pass, needed regulations to enforce and monitor the law legalizing marijuana in California will not be funded without a two-thirds vote. And in this political climate, that rarely happens.
"Other initiatives overturn laws or initiatives recently passed."
The non-partisan League of Women Voters was established after 1920 when women won the right to vote. The central philosophy of the organization was that a viable democracy must have an informed electorate.
"Indeed, it demands that we trust the decision of the majority when they base their decisions on accurate information and their own values," Raun stated.
