He sustained minor to moderate injuries and was taken to Mission Hospital Laguna Beach for treatment. The parties in the other vehicle were not injured.
Traffic on the northbound side of the highway was blocked in two lanes and diverted around the accident.
Four parking meters disabled
Four parking meters, three on Glenneyre Street and one on Calliope, were vandalized, Callus said. A ¼-inch hole was drilled into the window portion of the meters, causing the green flag to stay up, which indicates there is money in the meter.
The cost to repair all four meters is $768. The vandalism was reported at 9:54 a.m. Oct. 21.
Dog abandoned outside kennel
Laguna Beach police are seeking a person who apparently abandoned a dog outside a local kennel.
A Maltese-Pomeranian dog was found tied up outside the kennel, in the 20000 block of Sun Valley Drive, at 10:33 a.m. Oct. 22, Callus said. The dog was taken to the city's Animal Shelter.
The dog was not injured or in bad health, and has a microchip, so police will conduct a followup. It is illegal to abandon animals, she noted.
Blind woman hit in crosswalk
A blind woman crossing the street with her seeing-eye dog was struck by a vehicle at 3:03 p.m. Sunday at Coast Highway and Third Avenue, Callus said.
The woman was crossing on a green light in a marked crosswalk. The driver, who was turning left, did not see the pedestrian, but was driving slowly and struck her at 5 to 10 mph. The woman fell and sustained a minor scrape, Callus said. She refused medical treatment and was released to friends who arrived at the scene.
