Meet at Pelican Point lot #2 at the top of the boardwalk near the parking lot (from Coast Highway, turn coastward at Newport Coast stoplight, right at the kiosk and left into the first lot.) $15 day-use parking fee.

Weekends at the Nix Nature Center — Rocks and Fossils of Orange County: 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 30. Geologists Lee Shoemaker and Maureen Angle will share their rock and fossil collections and their enthusiasm. Bring your rocks and fossils to be identified and enjoy a rocking presentation at 2 p.m. Dig for your own fossil and try out some rocky activities. Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, Little Sycamore Canyon Staging Area/Nix Nature Center (west side of Laguna Canyon Rd/SR-133, approximately 3.5 miles south of I-5/405).
