SATURDAY: Learn about the benefits of a plant-based diet from noon to 4 p.m. at Main Beach. "Meatout" is the largest grassroots diet education campaign, annually observed in all 50 states and dozens of other countries. Sample a wide variety of delicious food and receive helpful information, recipes and coupons.

SUNDAY: Laguna College of Art & Design will display and sell artwork from students, faculty and staff about 6:30 p.m. during the "Best of the Best" student juried exhibit and awards reception at 2222 Laguna Canyon Road. Make Your Own Sea Lion

Laguna Outreach for Community Arts is hosting an Art and Sea Lions class from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Canyon. Participants will take home a miniature sea lion sculpture, go on a docent-led tour of the center, and see sea lions undergoing rehabilitation. Ceramics expert Jan Sattler will lead the sculpture class. Cost is $20 for adults and $15 for children 6 or older. Advance registration is required. Cooking Class

Laguna Culinary Arts, 845 Laguna Canyon Road, hosts a cooking class centered around sweet and savory tarts at 10 a.m. The menu includes goat cheese and walnut tart; new potato and asparagus tart on dill pastry crust; salmon, dill and Parmesan tart with pickled cucumber; blueberry lemon cloud tartlets; and fleur de sel chocolate caramel tart. Hector Villagra

Hector Villagra speaks on "Freedom of Religion and Beliefs" at 10:30 a.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Laguna Beach, 429 Cypress Drive.
