Dries is MVP at NCCA tournament
Laguna Beach High graduate Annika Dries, now starring at Stanford, was named Most Valuable Player of the NCAA Women's Water Polo Championships at Ann Arbor, Mich., last weekend. Dries scored five goals Sunday as the top-ranked Cardinal (28-1) knocked off No. 2 Cal, 9-5, in the title game. Dries also was a first-team all-tournament selection.
Dries last week was named to the USA Women's Senior National Water Polo team for a second straight year. The team will take on Canada in two matches during the FINA World League Prelims on Friday and Saturday at Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach.
