"This is a large-scale singing and dancing extravaganza," Josephson noted. "We are seeking performers of all ages."
The centerpiece of the production will be Dalmatian, a leading man-type singer who moves well and plays from late teens to 30s. Also featured will be Claire, a young, energetic girl in the 10 to 12 age range.
Another leading role is that of Piglet, in her late teens to 20s, described as "a petite, wisecracking brainiac singer who moves well."
Strong dancers are needed to play wolves, monkeys, wasps and stars, with singing ability a plus. Singers from age 7 into their 50s will be cast as gnomes, fairies and other creatures.
The show will feature a variety of puppets and magic effects, so puppeteers also are in demand.
"Singers should prepare 16 bars of both an up-tempo song and a ballad, and be prepared to sing the entire song if asked," Josephson said. "Auditioners should bring sheet music in their key, and an accompanist will be provided."
Auditions will be held from noon to 3 p.m. by appointment only. Those interested should e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call (949) 499-5060.
Gallimaufry also is planning a membership appreciation party at the Josephson home for June 25. This will be for members of Gallimaufry Performing Arts who are renewing their membership.
The "Sunset Serenade" will feature a private "in-home" concert featuring Dan Reckard and the live musical painting of Norton Wisdom.
The event is a "free 'thank you' party for Gallimaufry members and supporters," Josephson said.
