Laguna's Jane Wallin scores a basket in an Orange… (DON LEACH, Coastline…)

The Breakers started their Orange Coast League season Tuesday at home against Estancia, and despite coming up with one of its better offensive performances of the season, fell, 51-34, at Dugger Gym.

Sophomore center Jane Wallin led Laguna with 18 points and sophomore guard Audrey Rodriguez scored six points.

"We played a better game offensively than we have in previous games," Laguna Coach Mark Lewis said. "Jane (Wallin) did a good job finishing at the rim on good lead passes from her teammates. At times, our defensive energy created offensive opportunities for us."

Wallin also led Laguna in scoring with 10 points in a 46-16 nonleague loss Jan. 5 to Savanna.

Laguna has a trio of tough games next week, starting with a 7 p.m. Tuesday league game at Godinez. The Breakers play a 6 p.m. home nonleague game Wednesday against St. Margaret's, then host league foe Costa Mesa at 7 p.m. Thursday.

"Next week, all are tough games," Lewis said. "Godinez is probably the favorite to win the league. St. Margaret's always has a good program and Costa Mesa will be a scrappy game. Again, if we keep our composure, we can compete."
