Candlemaking Class

The Susi Q Senior Center and Pure Light Studios are offering a candlemaking class from 9 to 10 a.m. at the center, 380 Third St. Cost is $25.

Friday Flicks

The Arts Commission will screen "Bill Cunningham New York," a film about the New York Times photographer, at 7 p.m. at the Forum Theatre at the Festival of Arts, 650 Laguna Canyon Road.

Folkdance Festival

Dance around the world with live and recorded music at the 42nd annual Laguna Beach Folkdance Festival at Ensign School Gym, 2000 Cliff Drive, Newport Beach. Master teachers Michael Ginsburg and Jerry Duke will lead workshops in dances of the Balkans and Americas. The festival kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Friday with a dance party. 'The Work That Reconnects'

Scholar and eco-activist Joanna Macy will speak at a public lecture, followed by a weekend workshop. All events will be at Anneliese Schools' Willowbrook Campus, 20062 Laguna Canyon Road. The lecture is 7 p.m. Friday and costs $15 in advance, $20 at the door. The weekend workshop, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, costs $295 and includes meals. Register at


Party For Outgoing Mayor

The Woman's Club of Laguna Beach will thank outgoing Mayor Toni Iseman for her service at an event from 4 to 7 p.m. at 286 St. Ann's Drive. As part of the event, Iseman has chosen to make it in part a fundraiser for the Laguna Beach Community Clinic. Enjoy music from Jason Feddy, wine, hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction. 'Rocks and Fossils of Orange County'

The Weekend at the Nix Center program is back with "Rocks and Fossils of Orange County." From 1 to 4 p.m., learn to identify rocks and minerals, dig for fossils and more. Local geologist and teacher Maureen Angle will lead the program for ages 7 and older. The Nix Nature Center is in Laguna Coast Wilderness Park. For more information, visit
