World's Largest Hug
Directly after the Earth Day Challenge is over, participate in The World's Largest Hug on Earth Day at Main Beach. Participants hope to send the planet a powerful message about love and a willingness to change.
Tibetan Flute Player
Nawang Khechog, a world famous Tibetan flute player, will perform in celebratino of Earth Day at 10 a.m. at Neighborhood Congregational Chuch, 340 St. Ann's Drive.
Earth Day will be celebrated with a multi-generational worship service based on the Dr. Seuss story "The Lorax" at 10:30 a.m. at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Laguna Beach, 429 Cypress. This engaging service is designed to be meaningful for the whole family.
Earth Day Resource Fair
Neighborhood Congregational Church is hosting an Earth Day Resource Fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Bridge Hall, 340 St. Ann's Drive. Participate in the fair's free book exhchange, drop off old cell phones and recycle bottles and cans.
Blue Water Music Festival
Volunteers who participate in Saturday's Earth Day Challenge for an hour or more will receive half off the admission price for the seventh annual Earth Day Blue Water Music Festival, from 3 to 10 p.m. at Laguna Village, 577 S. Coast Hwy. The festival lineup includes the Pawnshop Kings, Nick I (of Common Sense), the Salty Suites (with Chelsea Williams), Kevin Miso, and Justin James and the World Anthem Band. Environmental Film Presentation
My Hero Project, in sponsorship with Laguna Beach Seniors, will screen short films and host a discussion featuring environmental activists from around the world from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Susi Q Senior Center, 380 Third St. "The Birdmaker" by Cheikh Darou Seck, "Eco Warrior" by Charlie McMahon, "Nobelity: Wangari Maathai" by Turk Pipkin and "One World One Ocean" by MacGillivray Freeman Films will be featured at this free event.
Town Hall Meeting
Environmentalist Margaret Henke will speak at a town hall meeting called "The Greening of Our Society" at 9 a.m. at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Laguna Beach, 429 Cypress.
Guest speaker Chris Prelitz, chair of the Environmental Committee, will talk about sustainability and energy at 10:30 a.m. at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Laguna Beach, 429 Cypress.
