AAA Division

American Legion wins two: American Legion continued its last-season surge in Laguna Beach Little League AAA Division action by winning games against UPS Store and Zero Trash.

Legion ran its win streak to three Tuesday by scoring an 8-5 win over UPS Store. After UPS Store had taken a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a double by Lance Detweiler and a sacrifice fly by Daniel Kimball, Legion answered with RBI doubles by Aryton Garcia and Jeremy Hayes to take a 3-2 lead. The score was tied at 3 in the third after a Jaden Rea line drive knocked in Kimball for UPS.

Hayes provided outstanding middle relief by throwing three scoreless innings with five strikeouts. A two-run double by Hayden Myers, bunt single by Will Keary and double by Charlie Pillsbury broke the game open for Legion in the bottom of the fifth.

On April 27, Legion scored a 6-3 win over Zero Trash. Starter George Williams of Zero Trash held Legion in check the first two innings. In the third, consecutive hits by Jeremy Hayes, Keary and Zach Falkowkski loaded the bases for Legion. Then, Legion's one-two punch of Jett Rocha and Pillsbury, delivered back-to-back doubles to clear the bases for a four-run lead.

A two-run double by Cole Hunt in the fifth provided the crucial insurance runs for Legion.
