Laguna squads ready for District 55 tournament

Four teams from Laguna Beach Little League will compete next week at the District 55 All-Star Tournament. The double-elimination event starts June 30.

Laguna will have All-Star teams competing in the Little League Majors, 10/11, 9/10, and Junior divisions. First-round games for Laguna teams are as follows:

•Majors All-Stars: vs. Laguna Niguel, 4 p.m., June 30, Woodfield Park (Field 4), Aliso Viejo.

•10/11 All-Stars: vs. Laguna Niguel, 11 a.m., June 30, Hicks Canyon Park (Field 2), Irvine.

•9/10 All-Stars: vs. either Lake Forest, Saddleback or Rancho Niguel, 4 p.m., July 1, Woodfield Park (Field 6), Aliso Viejo.

•Junior All-Stars: vs. Laguna Niguel, 6:30 p.m., July 2, Woodfield Park (Field 5), Aliso Viejo.

On June 15, Laguna Beach Little League announced the players that were selected to represent the league in All-Star play. Below are the 2012 All-Star teams:

Majors Division All Stars (12-year-olds): Blake Burzell, Justin Holm, James Langton, John Langton, Jack Loechner, Remy Mackel, Dean Nunis, Will Ross, Dylan Smith, Lance Stewart, Zach Washer, Jack Wills, Alternates: Thomas Garcia, Dylan Schreyer, Jack Raffo, Kyle McCombs.

11-year-old All-Stars: Sam Burgi, Nicholas Carpino, Jack Casey, Will Clark, Christian Herry, Cole Hunt, Hunter Johnson, Ethan Kupperman, William Lichtenstein, Joshua McManus, Grady Morgan, Daniel Nash, Alternates: Wesley Wittman, Sam Reynolds, Sam Kluver.

9/10 All-Stars: Dylan Brashier, Lance Detweiler, Ayrton Garcia, Brooks Hogenauer, Christian Holm, James Loughlin, Nathan Magers, Charlie Pillsbury, Will Potratz, Jett Rocha, Nolan Smith, Jackson Yelland, Alternates: Joshua Meiswinkel, Nicholas Lucas, Noah Linder.

Junior All-Stars: William Bonn, Cole Calabrese, Sean Conley, Ian Detweiler, Jack Dickinson, Bruce Knill, Jordan Leppo, Brandon Marquez, Carter Monacell, Daniel Peterson, Alden Stoneman, Bayley Thomas, Alternates: Michael Bacino, Davis Price, Jack Dickerson.

The Laguna Beach 8/9 All-Stars completed play in the District 55 tournament June 13. Laguna went 1-2 in the tourney. The 8/9 All-Stars are: Paxton Burzell, Caden Capobianco, Will Compton, Booker Firth, Jamie MacKay, Ryan Magers, Sol McDermott, Nolan Naess, Alex Neufeld, Jack Payne, Scotty Plowden, Maximo Rossi, Gavin Trevino, and George Williams.
