Fred Karger Memorial Weekend a Sell Out in Laguna Beach Beach, Club Bounce and Parties Galore Laguna Beach, CA – Despite weather forecasts of doom and gloom, the sun shined bright last weekend in Laguna.  The town was packed with visitors from all over California and the world.  There were lots of house parties and Club Bounce (1460 S. Coast Hwy. across from the old Boom 949-494-0056) was at capacity every night.  Mike Boone, Shaun Rosendahl, Chad Hudson, Jack Corwin and Jordan Kyle and several others had big parties over the 3 day weekend.

She spent her early years in New York’s Colored Orphan Asylum, worked as a lookout in a bordello and helped a Mafia-affiliated numbers runner. And became one of the greatest jazz singers the world has known. That was Ella Fitzgerald, and her story will be told in detail starting next week when the Laguna Playhouse mounts the Orange County premiere of “Ella.” With Tina Fabrique in the title role, “Ella” will offer some of Fitzgerald’s classic tunes — including “A Tisket, A Tasket,” “How High the Moon,” “That Old Black Magic” and “They Can’t Take That Away From Me.” “‘Ella’ is a dream come true for me,” said director Rob Ruggiero, who conceived the show along with Dyke Garrison.

They had "A Marvelous Party" late last year at the Laguna Playhouse, but it wasn't until mid-March that they realized just how marvelous it was. That's when the musical tribute to Noel Coward received a tribute of its own from the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle ? an award for "distinguished achievement in production" at the 38th annual LADCC awards. It was the first LADCC award for the playhouse, although the theater had been nominated in the past. Director David Ira Goldstein and playhouse executive director Richard Stein accepted the award on behalf of the playhouse.
