A Laguna Beach man has been accused of participating in an international child pornography ring that was recently broken up through the efforts of global law enforcement, according to the U.S. attorney's office. Anthony Jasso, 46, pleaded guilty in May to federal allegations that he traded images over the Internet and attended a Southern California club called Boy Lovers to watch child erotica. He also attended events involving children, the attorney's office stated in a news release.

Laguna Beach police are hoping to find more victims of an alleged child molester who is believed to have lured an 11-year-old girl on the promise of a modeling career, and is alleged to have molested girls as young as 8 over many years. The suspect at one time had a photo studio in Laguna Beach, where he allegedly carried out one of the molestations, according to police. Mathew Macul Fahey, 47, of Aliso Viejo, was arrested March 12 on two felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14, an open felony count of possession and control of child pornography, with sentencing enhancement allegations for “substantial sexual conduct with a child” and sexual crimes against more than one victim, according to District Attorney spokeswoman Farrah Emami.

A Lake Forest man was in federal court Thursday after being arrested in an Aliso Viejo library for allegedly viewing child pornography on a public computer. David Lavern Paine, 68, was detained Wednesday after witnesses and library officials reported the incident to Orange County Sheriff deputies. Officers arrived at the scene soon after the call and allegedly found Paine at a computer, viewing child pornography. According to the criminal complaint filed against him, Paine tried to lock the screen when confronted by deputies but later told them he had been viewing "nude women, young girls, bestiality and Russian nudists.

A Laguna Beach man was convicted Friday of molesting a 5-year-old boy, according to a news release from the Orange County district attorney's office. Nicholas James Needham, 28, a registered sex offender, pleaded guilty to one felony count of lewd acts on a child younger than 14. On June 15, 2010, Needham went into a men's restroom at the The Block at Orange, now called the Outlets at Orange, where the young boy was using a urinal, according to the news release. Needham approached the victim, touched the boy's penis and then fled the scene.

A registered sex offender from Laguna Beach was charged with molesting a 5-year-old boy in a public restroom, and authorities said there might be more victims. Nicholas James Needham, 27, was charged this week by the Orange County district attorney's office with one felony count each of lewd acts on a child under 14 and possession and control of child pornography. He is expected to be arranged on Friday. According to a statement from prosecutors, the alleged molestation occurred June 15 at the Block of Orange mall.

A Laguna Beach man was sentenced to six years in state prison for the molestation of a boy in a public restroom. Nicholas James Needham, 28, is currently in custody after being sentenced to nine years in federal prison for possession of child pornography. He will serve both sentences concurrently, according to a news release from the Orange County district attorney's office. On June 15, 2010, Needham approached a 5-year-old boy at a urinal inside a bathroom at the Outlets of Orange, formerly known as the Block at Orange.

In the course of one day, it's safe to say that an American teenager will access a social networking site. They'll update their Facebook status, tweet about their day, post a photo on Flickr or leave some comments on a YouTube video.

When a homeless man was accused of fondling himself in the Laguna Beach Public Library, the ensuing outcry was less about the alleged behavior than about the pornography the man was viewing on the Internet at the time. Some people had never realized before the November incident that libraries, originally intended as great institutions of public edification through books, could be used these days as sources for viewing porn. Others were all too aware of the issue because they had seen, in this library and others, library computers regularly used for decidedly unlofty pursuits, even when there were children around who could easily see the screens.
