The Artists? Theater will be swinging March 7. Guitarist John Heussenstamm will perform ?Nothin? But the Blues,? along with the award-winning Laguna Beach High School Jazz Orchestra and jazz singer Jamie Shew during the Fifth Annual Laguna Beach Blues & Jazz Festival at 7:30 p.m. March 7 at the Artists? Theater, 625 Park Ave. The concert benefits school district music programs. Twenty-five members of the high school?s jazz orchestra just returned from Orlando, Florida, where they competed in the Disney Jazz Fest.

George Gershwin and Frédéric Chopin had much in common, separated as they were by a century and an ocean. Both were among the premier musicians of their time and neither composer lived to celebrate his 40th birthday. They share another common bond in their interpretations by a third musical genius — Hershey Felder, whose “Monsieur Chopin” has joined “George Gershwin Alone” on the stage of the Laguna Playhouse. Felder’s classical piano artistry highlights the Chopin program.

SUZIE HARRISON Now in its third year, the Laguna Beach Chamber Music Festival again offers audiences five days of multi-layered music appreciation. The citywide event from April 13 through 17 will offer myriad chamber music experiences. The multifaceted program is the result of a collaboration of three music organizations that wanted to do something special. Cindy Prewitt, Laguna Beach Live! co-founder and president, said the idea was formulated by three organizations -- the Philharmonic Society of Orange County, Laguna Beach Chamber Music Society and Laguna Beach Live!
