The German-themed center is known for the races, a prominent part its annual Oktoberfest, but the dachshund races also take place Sundays year-round. The performance in Samueli Theater will feature "evocative music, stunning visual effects and innovative puppetry that brings together old favorites and new friends," according to a news release.

Ruby Tuesday Alan dies Scott Alan has lost his constant companion, Ruby Tuesday Alan, a Dachshund, who was well-known in downtown Laguna Beach for her extensive wardrobe, including dresses and jewelry. Scott said Ruby woke him up with a bark at 1:30 a.m. Aug. 5. He carried her outside and realized her heart had stopped beating. Ruby was born Aug. 7, 1995, and would have been 15 years old the next day. "Her birthday celebration turned into a celebration of her full life," Scott said.

The Laguna Board of Realtors? 11th annual Pet Parade/Chili Cook-Off boasted eight chili booths, seven vendor booths and 114 pets registered under seven different categories, according to Stephanie Lennon, executive vice president. The event took place Sept. 9 at Tivoli Too. Caroline Haines and Marcus Skenderian chaired the event and many volunteers helped make it happen. A new category this year was Most Beautiful Rescue Pet, which turned out to be the most popular category of all, according to Lennon.
