Peter Ueberroth's plan won't fly My response to your question regarding Peter Ueberroth's political ideas is that most of them are fine ideas but they have no substantial difference from any of the other conservative candidates. However, the only fully qualified candidate for governor is Tom McClintock while all the others are miles behind him in capability, goals and experience. The sad part is that Arnold [Schwarzenegger] is probably the only one who can win in this democratic, union, socialistic controlled state.

WEATHER TIDBITS It seems that quakes of 5.0 or greater in Southern California occur between 2 and 8 a.m. There must be something about that six hour window. Coincidence? More like a trend. Dennis Mc, walking dot com, has some numbers for you, not easily lifted from a data base. Shoot, I still think a mouse is a rodent! This is off my memory banks (overdrawn as they just well might be): Feb. 22, 2003 at 4:20 a.m. a 5.4 hit near Big Bear. April 3, 2001 at 6:01 a.m. a 5.7 hit in Calexico at southern border.

I was in the Mentawaiis the day the quake hit. I was traveling throughout Indonesia surfing and doing humanitarian work. As with so many surfers who volunteer every year, the first part of my trip was to consist of a standard boat charter trip with friends through the Mentawaii Islands. After that I was scheduled to fly over to Bali and work, with Skills For Humanity ( www.skillsforhumanity.org ), on a humanitarian project for my new foundation — Waves For Water ( www.wavesforwater.
