Chris Keller, owner of the hotel, said 300 partygoers donned Zoot suits, flapper dresses, fedoras, boas and pearls to enjoy cocktails, finger foods, and swing to Sugah Daddy’s jazz, blues, pop and swing music. A Dixieland band also jazzed on the rooftop bar, while a pianist entertained crowds in the courtyard.

HE IS General manager of the charming boutique hotel La Casa del Camino. TASK IN HAND But Tak Miyamoto can often be seen carrying a guest's luggage up the stairs to their room, or changing a light bulb in the lobby. Being a general manager at La Casa is a full and difficult job, and one that evidently does not leave any chore out of its description. People who frequent La Casa Del Camino's rooftop bar — and enjoy its magnificent views of the ocean and hills — may have to start checking in to the hotel to use the space. The commissioners unanimously approved a revised conditional use permit that states specifically what activities are allowed to take place on the deck.

The boutique hotel recently teamed with Riviera Magazine to create “La Casa Surf Project,” through which 10 hotel suites were redesigned by 10 hip companies and interior designers of their choice. Old-world Mediterranean décor was swapped for surf and skate-inspired furnishings, including hand-painted and signed surfboards and skateboards, funky recycled mosaics, underwater photomurals, eco-friendly and nature-inspired furniture, sea glass, exotic plants and oceanic color palettes.

EYE ON ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT Laguna Beach never disappoints -- when one event ends so begins another. I could happily live every day in Laguna without ever leaving. But if I have to by circumstance, my favorite part is seeing the cliffs that mark that I'm home and the drive from that point on -- passing all the familiar places that make Laguna Beach the best place to call home. The Sawdust Art Festival names board Rebecca Meekma released that the Sawdust recently held elections for its 2002-03 Board of Directors.

If it's a great view you're looking for, the ultimate in Laguna Beach views can be captured on top of the Casa del Camino hotel and is cleverly titled the Roof Top bar. The Roof Top, as it has become known, has quickly become a local favorite around town, and among visitors alike. I would be shocked if our city restricted using the Roof Top bar to hotel guests only. Can you imagine being barred from the premises of an establishment because you are a Laguna Beach resident?
