Note: Parks may be closed for 24 to 72 hours during significant rainfall. For park closure information, call (949) 923-2235. CRYSTAL COVE STATE PARK Crystal Cove State Park, 8471 N. Coast Hwy, has 3.5 miles of beach and 2,000 acres of undeveloped woodland. $15 day-use parking fee. The park is open 6 a.m. to sunset daily. Docent-led backcountry hikes are scheduled for 9 a.m. most Saturdays and Sundays. Hikes are three to five miles, and last about two hours.

Aliso & Wood Canyons Wilderness Park 28373 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Niguel Park information: 949-923-2200 or www.ocparks.com The park is open 7 a.m. to sunset daily. Special activities: Learn about the canyons' history, plants, animals and trails. From noon until 12:30 p.m. participate in an easy ranger-led walk on Saturday, April 12. Opportunities for special hiking programs can be arranged by calling Ranger Carroll at (949) 923-2200. The Orange County Natural History Museum is at the park entrance, open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

Be sure to talk with Rangers Tom Maloney and Carroll Baldwin about the best trails. Parking is $2. The Orange County Natural History Museum is located at the Park entrance, open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.
