Business task force member to speak ?Laguna Open to Business? will be the subject of the upcoming Laguna Beach Business Club meeting Thursday morning at the Hotel Laguna. Gregg Abel, principal of Gregg Abel design and a member of the Planning Commission who is serving on the Business Assistance Task Force, will discuss recent moves by the City Council to streamline the permit process for incoming businesses. ?Laguna Open to Business? will be a series of three meetings, with the intent to offer a variety of information to those interested in establishing a business in Laguna Beach.

Mary A. Castillo The Cancer Center at the South Coast Medical Center is gaining momentum as it prepares to begin offering a comprehensive treatment program on Sept. 30. The Cancer Center will be developed in three phases culminating with the construction of the two-story, 24,000-square-foot building. Construction is not yet scheduled as the hospital's Foundation continues to actively raise funds to provide $16 million needed to complete the project.
