The line at the Tony Roma's table extended out 10 feet, hands down the longest at Thursday night's second annual Taste of Burbank. And those hands would have been streaked with the barbecue sauce from the chicken legs and ribs being served by restaurant employees. Arleta resident Mike Shanto was among those who lined up for a sampling of Roma's fare. "I love the food and I love the city and the music," Shanto said. San Fernando Boulevard between Orange Grove Avenue and Magnolia Boulevard was closed down for the event.

Man hits wall, is arrested on suspicion of DUI A Dana Point man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after his Mercedes hit the concrete barrier wall in front of BJ’s Pizza on South Coast Highway in downtown Laguna Beach early Jan. 30, Sgt. Jason Kravetz said. The suspect, Laurence Henry Dober, 59, continued driving northbound after the collision and made a right on Broadway, heading toward Laguna Canyon, Kravetz said. By the time police stopped him in the 1900 block of Laguna Canyon Road, at 1:16 a.m., he had a flat right front tire, his driver’s side air bag was deployed, and loud scraping noises were coming from the vehicle, Kravetz said.

Students returning from spring break watch closely: Turn Off the TV Week begins Monday and runs through April 30. The innovation is a national movement that asks parents, students and teachers to take control of technology rather than let technology control them. Displaced kids in search of something to do could check out the library for Board Game Night on Tuesday. Children's librarian Rebecca Porter is encouraging youngsters to come ready to play and be treated to free pizza from BJ's Pizza Restaurant.

Do you all know about Kenneth Village, or am I about to let a secret out? I will admit that, until recently, I had sort of forgotten about this little corner of heaven, with its walkers, joggers and (baby) strollers, and appealing storefronts. It's a peaceful place to spend a few hours, especially a few lunch hours. A good place to start is George's Cucina Italiana. The small, 10-table interior is reminiscent of a European wine cellar, with coved ceilings and dim, flickering lights.

"C aring Hearts," held Sunday at Tivoli Too, was a fashion show with a twist. The fundraiser for the Laguna Beach Community Clinic showcased fashions from local shops and a silent auction of five bachelors. "This was a beautiful warm afternoon where everyone sipped cold champagne while enjoying gorgeous models and high fashion and reminded each other of the vital role that the clinic plays in Laguna," said Faye Kirk-Chapman, a clinic board member and chair of the event. Her committee included Karen Kredel, Mary Anderson, Carolyn and Dr. Tom Bent, Sandra Cassarella, Pam Corliss, Glori Fickling, Ron Herrin, Debbie Mulligan, Madeleine Peterson and Pamela Simpson.

There is no better theme song for the rich tradition of summertime surfing here in Laguna than Laguna’s musical band of hipness, “Honk.” Listening to Brad and David’s theme song just makes you want to go outside and embrace summer. Being back from Chicago last week, and surfing in front of my parents’ home, was like an old school reunion. Warm water. Sunny skies. Fun waves. Good friends. Simply put, I love it. I have so many good memories of that beach it’s unbelievable.

Doug Bowler The Certified Farmers' Market in Laguna Beach has been providing the freshest, home grown fruit, vegetables, cheese, baked goods, honey, plants and other goodies for eight years. Quality and freshness are guaranteed because all the products come directly from the growing source, avoiding storage and cooling stages typical during the shipping process. Plus there are no middle-people to compensate, reducing the basic food costs so you can afford a trip to the movies, the Sawdust and Art Festivals or buy several books from the Friend's of the Library.

The Susi Q is where Laguna's seniors can make new friends, visit with old friends, learn new skills, eat a hot meal and get advice. Laguna Beach Seniors Inc. built the center with help from the city, and no one is more passionate about maintaining it than the Quilter family. The sons of Susi Q — the nom de plume of the late Coastline columnist Elizabeth Quilter — donated $750,000 toward the construction. But that was only the beginning. "We are very committed to a place that will be around when your children have grandchildren," Laguna Beach Seniors Inc. President Emeritus Chris Quilter told the guests at the annual luncheon Monday at Tivoli Terrace.
