Dirt. It’s everywhere. Gumming up the keys of my laptop computer, clogging the zoom lens of my camera. It’s in all of my clothing. There’s even dirt in my dreams. And then in the memories of unzipping the tent every morning to see another perfect, yet absolutely different-from-last-night, landscape. Dirt in my nightmares, too. Of the ground rushing up to meet us as our Porsche Cayenne tumbled end over end. There was dirt all over the inside of the vehicle and dirt mixed with blood.

Area 1 Beach Street: A Laguna Beach man was cited on a drug violation after a pedestrian stop at 12:19 a.m. Friday. Broadway: A homeless man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication in the 300 block at 4:07 p.m. Wednesday. Broadway: Money was reported stolen from a briefcase in the 300 block at 3:36 p.m. Monday. Cypress Drive: A purse with a wallet and cellphone was reported stolen in the 200 block at 7:28 p.m. Wednesday. Dartmoor Street: A Porsche Cayenne was reported stolen after the keys were taken from a home in the 300 block at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.

Eight swimmers pulled from ocean Laguna Beach Lifeguards rescued eight people from the ocean off of Sleepy Hollow Lane at 2:49 p.m. Saturday, according to police records. It took about 20 minutes to make all the rescues. One of the victims was reported to be in shock.
