AREA 1 South Coast Highway: A caller reported transients setting up camp against the lifeguard headquarters building in the 100 block at 11:12 a.m. Sunday. South Coast Highway: A caller reported a suspicious man on Main Beach at 12:17 p.m. Sunday. The caller reported seeing a man at 6 p.m. the previous day with a snake around his neck, wearing a red hat with gold elephants on it. The caller said the man walked up to kids and asked them if they wanted to hold the snake. South Coast Highway: A caller reported a disorderly person in the 100 block at 7:01 p.m. Sunday.

Two cars were hit by downed power lines on Laguna Canyon Road on Jan. 20, according to the Laguna Beach Police Department. At 10:01 a.m., dispatch received a call of low or downed wires in the outbound lanes of Big Bend, 2995 Laguna Canyon Road, Sgt. Louise Callus said in an email. Several large Verizon wires came down when a bracket on the pole failed, she said. Of the two cars hit, one received minor damage and the other moderate damage. A bicyclist was reportedly hit as well, but left the area without contacting officers, Callus said.

It's not every day that people get the chance to do something creative that they're not only passionate about, but also pays their bills. Toes on the Nose window dresser Sydney Hensler says she got lucky. "It's something I never expected to do, but it totally fits me in a weird way," the Newport Beach resident said. "I really enjoy doing it, and I really enjoy doing it in Laguna Beach because I feel like it's a community that appreciates it. " Hensler, 28, was working at Toes on the Nose in downtown Laguna about two years ago when she was asked to try her hand at the storefront windows that face South Coast Highway.
