One Warm Coat Drive at Top of the World The Top of the World's Kindness Initiative, "Rachel's Challenge" is at work again, according to a news release. This month's TOW community service project is to benefit the Friendship Shelter and the Boys & Girls Club. TOW families brought in gently used and unneeded coats, sweaters, and jackets to keep someone warm during this winter season. Volunteer parents and Kindness Kids were on hand at drop off in the morning to take donations.

Suzie Harrison It's 1959 at Rydell High where letter sweaters, leather jackets, poodle skirts and saddle shoes are hip to boys coifed with ducktails and girls' bopping in ponytails. "Grease" is making its way back to the stage with the help of the Junior Park Avenue Players this weekend. "The reason we chose to do 'Grease' is that it's very musical," drama teacher and director Mark Dressler said. "It has catchy songs, colorful characters and great costumes."

Laguna Canyon Road: A man told police that his Toyota Tundra was damaged while he was on vacation at 1:47 p.m. in the 800 block. Laguna Canyon Road: A camera worth $1,500 was stolen from a business at 9:47 a.m. in the 2400 block.

Imagine you're from London or Seattle, and for months you've planned a warm summer vacation in Laguna Beach only to arrive and it's cold, drab and drizzly. You know it's bad when tourists are wishing they would have stayed home. It's official: Summer has not really arrived in Laguna Beach, with temperatures consistently below average and the marine layer hovering like a wet blanket. It must be global cooling. In both June and July, there was only one day each month above the historical average - barely, by one degree.

AREA 1 Crescent Bay: Victoria?s Secret sent a $363 bill to a resident who reported she had never opened an account with the company at 2:42 p.m. May 14. North Coast Highway: A 24-year-old Costa Mesa man was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired at the city limits at 11:52 p.m. Saturday. ? AREA 2 Woodland Drive: A Laguna Beach teenage passenger in a vehicle stopped for erratic driving was arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled substances, possession for sales, transportation of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia at 3:56 p.m. May 15. Canyon View Drive: A surfboard and two backpacks, valued at $450, were reported stolen from a parked truck at 10:25 p.m. Monday.

Dennis McTighe It's so nice to shed the long pants, sweaters, shoes and socks -- back to the unconfining board shorts, T-shirts and flops. Tuesday marked the fifth-consecutive sunny morning, with a temp of 70 degrees at only 9:30 a.m. A 5.2 shaker struck the town of Gilroy near San Jose at 9:30 p.m. Monday. No major damage, no injuries. We are so overdue down here it's getting scary. Not since the 7.3 in Joshua Tree on Oct 15, 1999 has there been a quake more than 5.3 in Southern California.

Commission to review complete streets proposal Adding bike lanes and enhancing crosswalks are a possibility for Glenneyre Street.
